Emergency contraception (the "morning-after pill") can prevent pregnancy after unprotected sex or if the contraception you have used has failed - for example, a condom has split or you have missed a pill.

The "morning-after pill" has no serious side effects. The sooner you take it, the better it works - best within 24 hours. 

Where can I get it?

The "morning-after pill" is available in farmacies without a prescription. The most drug-stores offer counselling on its use. Some of them refuse to stock or hand over the "morning-after pill". In this case you should seek out another pharmacy.

Getting it for free

You can get the "morning-after pill" for free, if

- you are under 22

- you have a health insurance and

- if you bring the prescription of your doctor to the drug-store.

Without a prescription you will pay around 16€ to 30€.  

 

 

A Reminder...

 

The "morning-after pill" is not a "hormone bomb".

 

The "morning-after pill" won`t protect you from sexually transmitted infections.

 

Emergency contraception doesn`t couse an abortion.
