Title: Reading & Discussion: “Patriarchy in the Uterus” by Dr. Alicia Baier, M.D. – read by Mira Huber

Description: Worldwide, one in four women undergoes an abortion at some point in her life—and yet hardly any other topic is so shrouded in myths, silence, and stigma—with consequences: Fewer and fewer doctors are offering the procedure, and access to care is, in some regions, significantly limited. Actress Mira Huber from Munich’s Hofspielhaus will read selected passages from the highly acclaimed book by gynecologist and Doctors for Choice co-founder Dr. Alicia Baier, *Das Patriarchat im Uterus* (Patriarchy in the Uterus). Between readings, experts from the fields of medicine and counseling will engage in a discussion: What does the current legal situation mean for care, counseling—and for the women themselves? This event is a collaborative effort by all Munich pregnancy counseling centers in partnership with the City of Munich.

Description: To mark International Safe Abortion Day, all pregnancy counseling centers in the city of Munich will be present at Marienplatz as part of a joint initiative. At the event booth, we’ll provide information about abortion, the current legal situation, and access to care; debunk common myths; and look forward to talking with you about reproductive rights, counseling services, and what self-determined decisions require—reliable information and quality care.
