Information on the electronic patient file (ePA)
If you have an abortion, you can decide for yourself whether this information is stored in your electronic patient file (elektronische Patientenakte - ePA). This also applies if you wish to use the ePA in general.
If the abortion procedure is stored in the ePA, it will still be visible many years later, e.g. when you scan your health card. The data in the ePA is not automatically deleted after ten years.
Doctors who perform abortions must inform you of your right to object. If you do not want the procedure to be stored in the ePA, it is sufficient to inform the doctor verbally during the consultation. Please speak to the doctor about this if necessary. The abortion will only be documented in the practice's internal file if you object to it being stored in the ePA.
